Arachnids

You will be happy to know that non of the arachnids on the island are harmful to humans. They may look ominous but the worse you will find is a painful sting bite that a cold bottle of Bright beer on a hammock will surely cure:

  1. Scorpions! There are three scorpions on the island. They are not dangerous to humans, but its sting can still be a little painful.

Tityus trivittatus (Black Scorpion) have large boxer-like pedipalps and look a little intimiating. Tityus stigmurus (Lesser Brown Scorpion) and Centruroides Gracilis (Slender Brown Scorpion) are both yellow or light brown. You can recognize Centruroides Gracilis because it is the smallest only growing to one inch long.
They are all relatively small when their stinger is up but if they decide to run they become elongated like Randall Boggs in Monsters Inc. and similar to Randall, they only work at night.

  2. Golden Orb Weaver is large and colorful, with a distinctive yellow and black pattern on its body. These spiders build large webs that can span several feet, and they are often found in gardens and other outdoor areas. While they are not venomous to humans, their webs can be quite strong and sticky, and can be a bit of a nuisance if you accidentally walk into one.

  3. The Brown Widow Spider is similar in appearance to the Black Widow Spider! and have a distinctive hourglass-shaped marking on their abdomen. Brown Widow Spiders are venomous but, thank goodness, are less dangerous to humans than Black Widow Spiders (whose bit can leave someone a widower).
